Duck-Billed Dinosaurs

Edmontosaurus, meaning "Edmonton lizard", is a genus of hadrosaurid (duck-billed) dinosaur. It contains 2 known species: Edmontosaurus regalis (regalis meaning "royal"), and Edmontosaurus annectens (annectens meaning "connected"). Fossils of Edmontosaurus regalis have been found in rocks of western North America that date from the late Campanian stage of the Cretaceous Period 73 million years ago, while those of E. annectens were found in the same geographic region, but in rocks dated to the end of the Maastrichtian stage of the Cretaceous, 65 million years ago. Edmontosaurus was one of the last non-avian dinosaurs, and lived alongside dinosaurs like Ornithomimus, Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus shortly before the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.

Appearances[]

A pair of Edmontosaurus (called duck-billed dinosaurs in the series; possibly male and female) appeared in "Dinosaurs", "Giants", and "Crocodilian".

Trivia[]

  • Like other dinosaurs in the series, this species is computer animated (due to being extinct), making all individuals of the same species (male and female) look exactly the same.
    • The other episodes showing this species reused the same footage from the first episode to show it.
  • The Martinandchrisaurus had the bill of a duck-billed dinosaur.
